Blind Throttle + street dance, can we please have more Fridays like that

I'll admit I rolled my eyes when I heard "blind driver" and "obstacle course" in the same sentence. Went anyway, dragged the kids down to the Village Town Center around 4 and it was honestly the most entertaining thing I've seen in the Bay in a long while. Guy driving the SXS couldnt see a thing, co-pilot yelling left left LEFT, whole crowd hollering. Cones took a beating. $10 for drivers is cheap for what it was.

Then the street dance with Matt Curry and the Smokin Hot Pickers. Free, which I appreciate. Crowd was bigger than I expected too, lots of folks I never see out, not just the usual golf cart regulars. Radio guys were set up there all afternoon (the Road Gang thing, 3-6) so it felt like an actual event and not 6 folding chairs and a cooler.

Skipped the card show at the Conference Center on Lost Creek Parkway Saturday. I was in the stand all morning and saw exactly one squirrel, so that was a great use of my time. Heard the poker run went ok tho?

Here's my gripe though. Why does it take a radio crew rolling in for anything to happen on a Friday night here?? Rest of the year this place rolls up the sidewalks by 7. If that many people show up when somebody actually plans something, why not do it once a month, or every other Friday in summer. Restaurants sell more, maybe somebody even hires a couple extra people, lord knows we could use the jobs.

If you missed it the details were here: Arkansas Radio: Big Weekend Coming to Fairfield Bay

So who went, how'd it look to you? And somebody tell me why more nights like this is a bad idea, cause I cant think of one

Went for the dance, stayed because the cones were getting destroyed. Crowd surprised me too. Half those people I only ever see at the farmers market.

Can't think of a reason it's a bad idea either, other than somebody has to actually organize it and that seems to be the hard part around here. People show up when you give them something to show up to.
